With HDFC SMS Banking, customers can access their accounts on-the-go. Right from monitoring their accounts, to making transactions, to keeping a track of their fixed deposits can be done through this facility. The facility can be availed in both English as well as in Hindi.

SMS Banking is a service by which customers can access and manage their bank account with the help of text messages on the mobile phone. You can check your balance, get mini or full statements, receive alerts for transactions, and perform certain banking tasks. The service is available without the internet and allows you to stay updated anytime, anywhere. This makes banking much simple, fast, and convenient. 

How does HDFC SMS Banking work?

HDFC SMS Banking allows its users to perform many functions such as accessing the account statement, mini-statement, etc. The facility requires its customers to type a specific keyword and send it as an SMS to 5676712. The customer then receives a text message in response within a matter of a few seconds.

Who Can Use HDFC SMS Banking?

How to register for HDFC SMS Banking?

There are various ways to register for the net banking facility provided by HDFC. These are as follows:

1. Through SMS 

  • Send an SMS from your registered mobile number.  
  • Send it to 7308080808 in this format: REGISTER <last 4 digits of customer ID> <last 4 digits of account number>  
  • You will get an instant confirmation SMS. 

2. Through ATM 

  • Insert or swipe your ATM card and enter your PIN.  
  • Go to ‘More Options’ on the main screen.  
  • Register for SMS banking by entering your registered mobile number and tapping ‘Confirm’. 

3. By Visiting Branch 

  • Visit your nearest branch to subscribe to SMS banking.  
  • Fill out and submit the application form.  
  • Your registration will be completed within four working days.

Charges for Using HDFC SMS Banking 

  • For SMS Banking, you will be charged 20 paise plus GST per SMS.
  • On the other hand, email alerts are completely free.
  • You can also modify or unsubscribe the service by using NetBanking or through the Mobile Banking App. 

How to De-register HDFC SMS Banking 

You can easily deregister from SMS alerts and start using SMS banking once your account is registered: 

Step 1: Log in to NetBanking by filling in your Customer ID and password. 

Step 2: Click on the option ‘Insta Alerts’ at the top-right corner. 

Step 3: Select the account for which you want to remove alerts. 

Step 4: Choose the specific alerts you want to delete and click Delete

Step 5: Confirm your selection to successfully deregister the alerts.
